2nd December was a big day for our partner the Happy Hands School for the Deaf, as we unveiled our plans for the new school building at Shikha Eco-Learning-Village. Odisha’s Minister of Planning & Convergence, Commerce & Transport Padmanabha Behera laid the Foundation Stone in a well-attended ceremony.
This event followed from a successful fundraiser, in which the Happy Hands School raised Rs. 360,000 as a starting point for the first phase of construction of the new school building. The school’s director Sibaji Panda said: “We are very grateful to all those who donated towards the first phase of our school building. This has greatly increased our credibility and will help us raise additional funds and support for our school.”
The Happy Hands School for the Deaf partners with Shicol in projects related to the education of deaf primary school children and the training of deaf teaching professionals.
