Agroforestry site internal team workshop

In preparation for developing our new agroforestry site, we held an internal planning workshop for our team. The first step was to share our experiences of the agroforestry project so far. We used a workshop technique that involved making a 3D map of the site on the ground, using leaves, stones, sticks, sand, chalk powder, etc. The mapping gave everyone a good understanding of the site.

We then played a game that was designed to discuss our plans for plantation and other activities on the agroforestry site. The game is based on rolling a dice to select cards with drawings representing the different relevant categories, such as timber trees, mushrooms, etc. The person who rolled the dice has to start the discussion about the picture on the card, and others can also add their suggestions. After the discussion, the lead person sticks the card onto a timeline chart along with notes from the discussion. In this way, we discussed 18 themes, including bamboo, rice paddy, trees (fruit and timber), vegetables (leafy, root, climbers), flowers, mushrooms, herbs, spices, berries, various farm animals, fish, and honey bees.

As our aim is to integrate cultivation with cold storage, we then watched and discussed two videos, one describing a high-tech solution of a solar powered cold storage room, and another one about a traditional self-build and low-cost solution. We all appreciated the idea of building a cold storage system and decided to create a solution using a mix of both traditional design and up-to-date solar technology.
