Sonia Saha has joined us in her post as Research Associate from this month. She will be responsible for documenting our activities at Shicol, as well as designing and working on new projects. Sonia is from Kalahandi, which is not far from our district, and comes from a village where her family works on integrated farming. We warmly welcome Sonia to the Shicol team.

Sonia says about herself and her new role: “I have completed a Master’s in Social Work (children & family) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. I am very pleased to join Shicol as I feel connected with the nature of work and responsibilities, and because it offers an opportunity to work in the state I belong to. Previously I have had opportunities to work with a wide range of communities who are in disadvantaged situations, which enabled me to understand their issues intimately and find solutions.

I believe that I can act as a bridge and make use of the skills and experience I have gained over time. I hope that working at Shicol will be a great experience and opportunity for me. Over the past month, I already began to experience the co-operative and cordial working culture, and I will try my level best in the pursuit of what Shicol is striving for.”
