Under the weather

This has been a month of difficult weather. At the beginning of May, there were several ferocious thunderstorms, one of which caused some damage at Shikha – the beautiful bamboo pavilion was blown right off our roof! Fruits of Shikha

For the first time, we are set to have a substantial fruit harvest at the eco-village. This is the first year that the fruit trees are bearing a lot of fruit. Most of the trees are three years old. Plans for self-learning spaces

This week we have had visitors from Bangalore. Christoph, originally from Germany, and his Indian colleague Boicha visited to get to know the Shikha eco-learning-village site because we are planning to collaborate on establishing a flexible self-learning space for our local community. The Bangalore team at “Project DEFY” (Design Education For Yourself) specialise in setting up such spaces, which they call “Nooks”. Visit to Somwadi, Maharashtra

Right from the beginning of our work, our concept has been to create several sites for researching, working, and learning that would collaborate and form a network.
